One on One: Where Teaching Meets Intelligence

We built One on One because we kept asking the same question: why does a one-on-one tutoring session — the most powerful learning format known to education — still look exactly like it did twenty years ago? Two people on a call, maybe a shared screen, and that's it. We thought we could do better. A lot better.

One on One: Where Teaching Meets Intelligence

Built for Real Teaching

One on One isn't a video call with a few extras bolted on. It's a purpose-built tutoring environment where every feature — from the AI whiteboard to live quiz generation — exists to make the moment between a teacher and student more productive, more engaging, and more human.

Why We Built This

One of the things I noticed early on — both as a student and later as someone building an edtech company — is that the tools we use for online tutoring are fundamentally borrowed. We took a video conferencing product designed for business meetings and tried to teach calculus and organic chemistry in it. It sort of works. But sort of is not good enough when a student's future is on the line. One on One is our answer to that gap. It's built from the ground up for one-on-one and small-group tutoring, with every feature designed around the question: what actually helps a student learn right now, in this session?

Purpose-built for live tutoring — not repurposed from enterprise video tools
Supports 1:1 sessions and group tutoring with seamless participant management
Designed around the teacher-student interaction, not the other way around
Works on any device — no downloads, no friction for the student

The AI Toolkit — Built Into Every Session

This is where VedSegment becomes something genuinely different. Every tool in the session is powered by OsmiumLLM — the same model that sits at the heart of our education platform and has benchmarked higher than GPT-5 in educational content generation. It's not an AI assistant you open in a separate tab. It's embedded directly into the teaching experience.

AI Whiteboard — draw, annotate, and let OsmiumLLM generate diagrams and step-by-step solutions in real time
Quiz Generation — the AI reads the session topic and generates contextual MCQs, fill-in-the-blanks, and problem sets on the fly
Poll Maker — run quick comprehension checks mid-session without breaking the flow
Maths & Scientific Calculator — full symbolic computation, equation solving, and graphing built right in
Code Compiler — supports Python, JavaScript, C++, Java and more; write, run, and debug live during the session
YouTube Link Preview — share any YouTube link and it renders an in-session preview without navigation away
Live Transcript Generation — OsmiumLLM generates a real-time transcript of the session, useful for revision notes
Resource Sharing — share documents, PDFs, and links that students can access directly inside the session window

The Technical Foundation

Building a real-time collaborative platform is hard. Building one where AI is deeply embedded into every interaction — not just as a background feature — is significantly harder. We spent months getting this right. The architecture had to support low-latency video, real-time AI inference, collaborative canvas synchronization, and live code execution, all simultaneously and without degrading the experience.

WebRTC-based peer-to-peer video with adaptive bitrate for unstable connections
Collaborative canvas powered by CRDT (Conflict-free Replicated Data Types) for real-time whiteboard sync
OsmiumLLM inference runs server-side with sub-200ms response latency for in-session AI actions
Isolated code execution sandboxes per session for safe, real-time compilation
End-to-end encrypted sessions — transcripts, recordings, and shared content are yours alone

More Than a Tool — A Teaching Philosophy

I want to be honest about what VedSegment is and isn't. It's not trying to replace the tutor. It's not trying to automate teaching. We believe deeply that the best learning happens in a relationship — between a knowledgeable, caring human and a curious, motivated student. VedSegment just removes the friction so that relationship can do its best work. When a student is stuck on a differential equation and the tutor can instantly render a step-by-step solution on the shared whiteboard, and then generate three similar problems for practice without leaving the session — that's not automation. That's augmentation. That's what we're building toward.

AI as a co-pilot for the teacher, not a replacement
Every AI feature is triggered by the tutor, keeping them in control
Designed to reduce the administrative overhead of tutoring (note-taking, quiz creation, resource sharing)
Session transcripts sent automatically to the student post-session for revision

We didn't set out to build another video call platform. We set out to build the room where the best teaching in India can happen — and then make it available to every student, everywhere.
